Ep 72 - Miles Morales - Show Notes

This week Miles Morales IS the new Spider-Man! What's the secret behind his powers, and how will he master them? What new and familiar enemies will rise to challenge this all-new Spider-Man? And will Miles live up to Peter Parker's legacy?

Cocktails

The Rookie

  • 2 ounces Grand Marnier
  • 1 1/2 ounces Tequila (I prefer silver)
  • 2 ounces lime juice
  • 2 1/2 ounces kiwi simple syrup [recipe below]
  • lime + fresh kiwi or kiwi berries for garnish
  • coarse salt for the rim

kiwi simple syrup

  • 4 kiwi fruit, peeled
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

directions:

Rim the ridge of your glass with a lime wedge and dip in a mix of coarse salt. In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, grand marnier, kiwi simple syrup and lime juice with ice, and shake for about 30 seconds. Pour over ice and squeeze in lime slices and add a few kiwi berries or kiwi chunks.

Add the kiwi fruit to a food processor and blend until pureed. Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil, whisking until the sugar dissolves. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool. Once cool, add it to the food processor with the kiwi and blend until you have kiwi syrup! This can be stored in the fridge, sealed well, for a week or so.


Spider-women

  • 1 oz watermelon schnapps
  • 1 big splash of cranberry juice in a shaker.
  • pour into a tall, ice filled glass
  • Muddle 1 slice lemon
  • 1 slice lime
  • 1.5 oz tequila
  • 1/4 ox blue curaçao
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup

then slowly strain into the glass


Spider Sting

  • 1/2 oz Blue Curacao
  • 1 oz vodka
  • fill with 7-up
  • 1/2 oz Grenadine
  • 1 whole Cherrie

Add Grenadine to a hurricane glass, then fill with ice.  Add Vodka and fill with 7-up.  Splash blue curaçao on tome and garnish with acherry.


Wait For It

  • 1.5 oz cointreau
  • 1.5 oz sambuca
  • top with a few shakes of cinnamon

1/2 oz. Jagermeister

Instructions

Mix over ice in a collins glass and enjoy.

Kraven's Last Drinking Game

Ok, so lets be clear about this.  We’re a big ol mess in this episode.  Forgive us, but it was the first time we were all in a room together to record.  We had an amazing time, hopefully listening to us will be fun too.  

Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson are getting married! But Kraven the Hunter is going to make sure the wall-crawler ends up six feet under... literally! Between the supercomputer wired into his brain and the enhancements saturating his body, the living weapon known as Midnighter doesn’t face a lot of real challenges to his uncanny combat skills. Lucky for him, he enjoys beating the tar out of low-level bad guys as much as the high-end ones—and since his recent breakup with his first love (and fellow superhuman) Apollo, he’s had plenty of chances to engage in his unique brand of physical therapy.  This week we’re reading Midnighter Vol 1 - Out.

This week were reading the best selling graphic novel of all time (or so the cover says), The Death of Superman.  It’s the comic book event that crossed over to pop culture in a big way.  It also influenced the film Batman v. Superman.

Planet Hulk: The Drinking Game

Bryan has never read a Hulk book before, and this is a highly recommended Hulk story is also the basis for part of the next Thor movie.  This week we are filling the gaps in our gapes in our knowledge by reading Planet Hulk.
